Rezept in Deutsch
Süßes aus der Pfanne – Italienische Karnevalsgebäck (Crustoli)
In a few days it’s Mardi Gras and after I have brought to you the recipe for the Italian carnivals doughnuts, I have now for you another delicious recipe for Italian carnival pastries, called Crustoli.
And these traditional Italian carnival pastries don’t have to miss! They are known in many regions in Italy by various names! But the recipe is always the same.
After the dough is ready, it has a resting time for about 1 hour in the fridge.
Then roll the dough with a rolling pin and cut some squares out of it and in the middle make to cuts.
Fry the pastries in oil from both sides and let drain on a kitchen paper towel. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Those are so delicious and really easy to make! Make them together with your kids and have fun!
Here is the recipe!
Italian Carnival pastries
350 g flour
50 g butter
50 g sugar
7 g vanillin sugar
2 little flacons Rum flavour
a pinch of salt
Oil for frying (about 1 liter)
- In a bowl, combine flour, margarine, sugar and vanilla. Add the eggs, the rum flavour and a pinch of salt. Process all the ingredients to a smooth dough.
- Let the dough rest for about 1 hour in the fridge.
- After that, roll it out thinly and cut rhombuses out of it, and make in the middle of the rhombus two cuttings.
- Fry now for few minutes in oil from both sides. Place on a paper towel, after cooling down, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
